Recap of the SuperBid AMA with Blockchain Space
On Thursday, March 11th, we had the pleasure to welcome to our Telegram chat:
Max, The Operations Lead for SuperBid.
We asked him questions about the development of SuperBid.
Q~ Introduce yourself and your roles in the team and SuperBid to the BlockchainSpace community ?
A~ Okay, i’ll start by introducing the story behind how this project was created
Our project was founded by Wojciech Sobczuk and Patrick Gajda. Wojciech, our CTO, built the first social network in Poland backed by Intel Capital, available before Facebook (over 2 million users). He also built Modasphere.com (the solution used by H&M and over 100 talent agencies, acquired in 2015). He is now the CTO at VentureDevs (over 150 developers) and a member of the Forbes special Technology Counsel. Patrick, our CEO, is president of Escape Velocity (a space technology company also based in Poland), and is on the executive board of Venture Devs. The two entrepreneurs decided to start a social media / influencer based crypto project — SuperBid
SuperBid.io is an innovative social auction app that connects you with your fans. With SuperBid, users have the opportunity to launch auctions and raffles for their followers. Users will be able to easily auction off experiences, NFTs and virtual and physical goods, e.g.:
“Bid for an hour of playing Fortnite with your favorite Twitch streamer”,
“Bid for the streamer to review your profile”
“Bid for the limited edition celebrity headphones”
“Bid for your influencer’s newly released NFT collections”
Part of every superbid auction profit will go to a charity of choice.
SuperBid combines the potential of live shopping with online auctions and influencer marketing. The values of items auctioned online by influencers average between 400%-700% higher than the regular market prices. SuperBid wants to bring auction systems to the world of celebrity e-commerce for good while providing a new way to engage audiences and make money.
My role on the team is operations lead, Kinga is our marketing lead and Jacob is our program execution lead (meaning he runs most of the daily activities with our community members). As I mentioned, Wojchiech is our CTO and Patrick is our CEO.
You might be wondering about our dev side of things — Since VentureDevs is run by Wojciech and Patrick, we will utilize their developers to build the application. In fact, these efforts have already begun.
I myself am a Systems Engineer with an extensive background in risk management, program management, systems architecture development and analysis, and change control. I specialize in resolving cross-functional issues between highly technical teams, and have experience working on very complex aerospace systems.
I’ve been involved in crypto for over 4 years, am heavily invested in researching and learning more about new projects and technologies. I stumbled across SuperBid and took a giant lead to assist them in their launch, business, and product development.
And most importantly i am very happy to be here with you today 🙂 in fact, i’m SUPER happy!
Q~ What are the utilities and usecase of the $SUPERBID token and how does it capture the value of the ecosystem you’re building?
A~ Everything is in a state of flux, because we are a startup and coming up with new ideas every day. We have tons of good ideas about how we want to fully utilize the capabilities of blockchain to boost efficiency on our app. To start, the $SUPERBID token will be used to power the financial ecosystem of the fully blockchain integrated version of our app. What does this mean?
Our initial concept and idea is this (it could change as we progress) — transactions on the final version of the app will be conducted with SuperBid “points” which can be purchased on the app. Our idea is to peg the value of “points” to a percentage of the SuperBid token itself. “Points” will be used for bidding on auctions and raffles within the app. The reason why we want to utilize points is to attract the mainstream — instead of requiring extensive knowledge of how to acquire cryptocurrencies in general, we want a user to be able to purchase “point” packages with their credit cards. For example, I can sign up for a $10 package which will get me 100 “points’’, or a 50$ package which might get me 600 “points”
Our idea is points will be associated with the token supply itself. Our app will be the perfect application of blockchain considering the amount of users that we want to attract and amount of transactions that will be conducted in micropayments out to auctioneers / influencers when a bid is placed or raffle made.
Furthermore, we are thinking about incorporating some cool features such as gamifying the app.
For example, if you hold a certain amount of points and for a certain amount of time, you might be placed in a higher bracket which could give you bonus points or priority in making bids (as a user) / being seen by fans (as an influencer). We like to think of this kind of as a google ad network where the higher bracket which you are in, the higher likelihood you have of winning an auction or going viral within the app, if you are an influencer. We will counter this by allowing users to participate in raffles and perhaps have separate benefits for the “micro” influencers or people that simply want to try out the app just to see if they have potential in growing their following on social media.
Again, these details are being worked out daily. Our first version of the app is being built now. A user will not require any knowledge of blockchain in order to use the first version. As I mentioned, user’s simply will be able to connect a credit card to buy points and then make bids. We will most likely make the app public while it is still in the test phase, so that our community can test it out and provide feedback.
So in summary, here’s the deal.
Q~ So how do users earn this points?
A~ They will have the opportunity to buy them on the app with credit card 🙂
Yes good question…. In the initial version of the app, the users and influencers will absolutely not have to know anything about blockchain. It will simply be users connecting credit cards in a very simple way. Eventually, once we have data on the product and user experience after a few months of it running, we will integrate with blockchain.
Any further integration we will have to figure out and pick the right blockchain for it.
In order to combat high fees and slow transaction times, we will consider leveraging more efficient blockchains as well as layer 2 ethereum solutions like Matic.
Q~ What criterias or requirements does every user needs to merit to participate in influencer-led auctions?
A~ Well firstly, in order to participate they need to have a working credit card.
A user will need to purchase SuperBid “points” with their credit cards. These points will be used to bid on items and join raffles. I mentioned all of the aspects of this in detail in question number 2.
QUESTIONS FROM BITCOINTALK
Q~ You announced Natalia Janoszek as the first celebrity joining the SuperBid team, what is Natalia’s involvement in the SuperBid expansion and further steps related to your promotion?
A~ max : Okay, this is a perfect question for Kinga!!! She helped us form this partnership!
Kin Now : Natalia has joined our team as a brand ambassador whose image is used to promote us. Of course, promotional and image aspects are extremely important, as undoubtedly Natalia is known in many places around the world for her achievements.
Her latest film, 365, available on Netflix, topped trend lists in over a dozen countries around the world. However, Natalia has extensive business knowledge resulting from her experience and education — she has a background in business and also holds an MBA.
Thanks to this she perfectly understands the intricacies of show business, has a wide range of contacts (other influencers) and can reach out to many people who would be potential candidates of using the app. That is why she has been engaged to build SuperBid’s long-term marketing plan and will also be responsible for contacts with celebrities — reaching out to them and discussing the project, its potential etc.
Hence the decision to choose her as our first celebrity. She brings an additional value, beyond the image, which is priceless in this project. She’ll also be auctioning off her dress on our app once launched!
Xiaolin : Can we see a picture of the dress she wore to the cannes film festival, I thought it was the purple one I saw on her Instagram, cause it was very beautiful?
max : By the way, kinga is actually a woman and that is actually what she looks like in the telegram picture ! everybody knows women led projects are lacking the crypto space, so we are very very happy to have kinga on the team.
patrick: I must mention that this dress was voted one of the best creations at the Cannes Film Festival. Natalia had a lot of offers to sell the dress.
Xiaolin : Wow, who was the designer?
max : And on the designer of the dress — it was natalia herself! she is multi-talented…. very cool.
Q~ Do you accept feedbacks from you users, can users make suggestions on which influencers to establish cooperation with, when will the social-auction app that connects influencers with their fans be available on app stores?
A~ Of course we accept feedback from our community 🙂
This is what makes our community so strong 🙂 And in fact, since day one we have been EXTREMELY active in our community telegram constantly looking for feedback from our investors and believers as well as engaging the community. Our initial draft of the tokenomics plan was created based on feedback from our community, and the 90% token burn was as well. The community wanted to gain more confidence and trust in our team, so we also went ahead and locked the majority of team tokens in trust swap smart contracts. All this info can be found in our telegram channel’s pinned messages.
With regard to the app itself, yes, we will absolutely be collecting data from our users every day once it is launched. We will likely have a number of influencers already on the app. We are thinking the main influencer “categories” will be catered towards gamers, music, and modelling / fashion.
We are considering referral programs which will allow users to refer their friends and favorite influencers to join the app.
In the near term, if anyone has any influencer that you’d like us to connect with and potentially develop a partnership with, do not hesitate to reach out to me directly! I am already in contact with 2 community members who have connections to the gaming industry and are willing to help assist in potentially facilitating a connection with very popular gamers. While we have not locked down a time for when the app will be launched, our initial roadmap can be found here
QUESTIONS FROM TWITTER
Q~ SuperBid decided to burn nearly 90% of the total token supply, Can you share with us the updated Token Distribution, Locking & Economics ecosystem ?
A~ First of all please treat the content on the site as a plan — we’ll be fleshing out tokenomics in the coming weeks as we work on the product. But our initial idea is to have a deflationary mechanic in place, so the supply would shrink as the platform is used. The initial draft of our token distribution, locking, and economics ecosystem can be found on our website via the link here
Q~ On your roadmap I found something that caught my eye: NFT auctions where influencers broadcast and sell NFT collections. Can you tell me a bit more about what this implementation will be about? Will influencers really be able to sell NFT?
A~ Yes, we are very excited about this. let me give you some details and initial thoughts.
We absolutely want to utilize and incorporate NFTs into the SuperBid platform. Right now, these are just ideas, however, we are in active discussions with an NFT company talking about a potential collaboration. What this means is that influences might have the opportunity to create their own NFTs which are associated with tangible and intangible awards won on the app. Our initial thoughts regarding NFT are the following:
- Fee structure would be to charge a fee for NFT creation (in the form of SuperBid tokens or Ethereum)
- Associate NFT with tangible assets sold by influencers
- Associate NFT with ‘digital art’ created and sold by influencers
- Associate NFT with ‘experiences’ (i.e. day in the life, watch a show together, play a game together, etc.) sold by influencers
As i mentioned, we plan to gamify user to user interactions. More bids and more tokens held for a longer period of time = higher rating. People with higher ratings can be rewarded with a unique NFT.
Users can create their own NFTs with SuperBid token, points, or Ethereum and gift them to their favorite influencers in messages.
Potentially we will try to implement a serialization method for tangible objects (can I adhere a machine readable code to my item which is associated with an NFT and can be scanned by my phone?). The logistics of this still needs to be ironed out.
Overall, we are very excited about the potential of utilizing an NFT creation mechanism within our ecosystem but again, these are not fully implemented or have been decided upon yet. Just ideas which we are considering to implement after the launch of our app.
Q~ Users will be able to auction off virtual and physical goods, what kinds of goods/service can users auctions, is there any nationality barrier in doing this ?
A~ The goods/services which an influencer can auction off are pretty much limitless.
If Justin Beiber ends up becoming an influencer on the app, he can auction or raffle off his favorite hat.
If Snoop Dogg uses the app, he can auction off his bong.
If Kim Kardashian uses the app she can auction off her jewelry.
Or, if you were Natalia Janoszek (our first influencer and promoter), you can auction off your dress!!! This is actually happening upon app launch, by the way. And we’ll have many more 🙂
These are just a few examples.
You might be thinking, well what about me? I’m not a celebrity and people aren’t going to buy my bong for $100,000. Our platform will be open to new influencers joining after launch — it will create a new revenue stream for influencers who have maybe a small following on youtube or instagram. Influencers will be able to think of creative ways to attract their audience and will be searchable on the app. Initially, the app will contain several predetermined influencers but we would absolutely be expanding as we collect data on our user experience.
We want this app to be accessible to all. We will be translating to different languages, starting with English. There should be no nationality barriers once we have multiple languages available on the app.
QUESTIONS FROM TELEGRAM
Q~ What kind of influencers did you contact to promote the SuperBid app globally? From which countries influencers are currently interested in your project?
A~ USA, Korea — we’re mainly targeting these countries.
Q~ The fact that SuperBid list has few exchanges makes it easy to change prices with high amplitude, so how can you explain this problem so that investors are not too worried about acquiring this price?
A~ I think you should focus on Uniswap price always, and then compare with WhiteBIT, very often you can buy at a better price there. This is a temporary problem that will go away as we list on more exchanges and increase liquidity.
Q~ Do you have any plans to move auctions to video stream in the future ?
A~ Yes, that’s the end goal. We’re starting with a chat / feed based auction screen, but we’ll most probably move to live streaming.
Q~ Your project has great features. There must be an experienced team behind. Can you tell some about your team and their experiences in the market?
A~ Good question! It’s a team from VentureDevs that previously worked on music.com and trubify.com — please check those apps out.
Q~ Is your project a local project or a global project? Can anyone use your services from anywhere in the world? Is there any restrictions of using your service?
A~ We’re going global. Starting with English speaking countries, now targeting Korea, and then will probably translate to many other languages.
Q~ I saw on your web that Valhalla Private Capital and VentureDevs are in partnership with SuperBid, how much funds has this project reserved for partnerships and is there any project involved with security that might help improve to improve your barriers?
A~ Valhalla Private Capital is helping us with expansion into Canada eventually. We are being solely funded by our founders at the moment, but since they are well connected and funded themselves, we are all set for the most part in this front. Also, we can pull as many developers from venture devs as we need in order to build the product, since wojtek and patrick run venture devs. venture devs will also be supporting us from a security standpoint. we are currently in discussions with a music-oriented company for potential partnership. ill give you a hint — venture devs created their app and you can find it on the website 🙂 none of this is final yet, but just like we are in active discussions with NFT company, we are also in active discussions with the music company. A partnership with them will help bring music artists to the platform, so maybe one day we will see snoop dogg auctioning his bong off through superbid 🙂 let’s just wait and seeeeee.
Q~ The name Superbid is a very meaningful name for your application. How did this name come about?
A~ The Latin prefix super- means nothing more than: ‘above, in addition’. that is why Superman means a man who is above other men. Considering the above and our idea (a bid in an auction) the meaning is exactly this bid which will allow you to be above and win the auction 😉 And in addition, we want to have the power to give something more, to add a new, super quality to social media.
Q~ Can you explain how is your Tokenomics Distribution? How many tokens Will be minted ? And How many tokens Will be locked by the team?
A~ No tokens will be minted, we have a fixed supply of ~102 million now. You can check numbers on tokens here
We each have to get back to work, so let’s pause for now. That said, we’d love to come back on for another AMA eventually. there is work to be done!!!!
